Please read: Let Us Go On Together
There are two stories behind this poem. The first is that I awoke this morning around 4:00, and in my half sleeping state remembered a fable by the famed cartoonist James Thurber. This fable is what makes the secondary story. In those early hours I found myself irresistibly fascinated by the judgment of the princess, and the reason she gave. This led to the first two lines of my poem. After writing the whole thing, I fell right back to sleep. I think it was then half past the hour.
Moral: Apparently, I can’t write something happy unless I’m half asleep.
